Kings of Leon Concert Cut Short After Lead Singers Abrupt Exit

Scorching summer temperatures got the best of Kings of Leon lead singer Caleb Followill.

At Friday night’s concert in Dallas’ Gexa Energy Pavillion, the Kings of Leon frontman abruptly left the stage after complaning about his voice and being “hot,” according to published reports.

“My voice is completely 100 percent wrong. I’m sorry,” the singer told the crowd.

“I’m gonna go backstage for a second. I’m gonna vomit. I’m gonna drink some beer … and for the record, I’m not drunk … I’m about to fall down here because I’m so goddamn hot. … I’m gonna come back out here and I’m gonna play three more songs.” But the 29-year-old never did make it back out on stage.

For added context, temperatures were up to the 90s in the Texas town while the concert was going on last night. According to a report published Saturday morning, Caleb suffered from heat exhaustion and dehydration during Friday’s show, which caused his vocal chords to seize.

Bandmate (and younger brother) Jared Followill apologized to fans. “We are so unbelievably sorry. There’s no words right now,” he said to the paying crowd after Caleb’s exit. “Caleb’s just a little unfit to play the rest of the show.”

“I know you guys f—ing hate us. I’m so sorry,” he said. “I can’t apologize enough. It’s really not our fault. He can’t play the rest of the show. … F—ing hate Caleb, not us.”

Jared took to his Twitter account after the shortened gig to elaborate on some things, writing, “Dallas, I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am. There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed. No words.”

On Saturday, the younger Followill tweeted, “I love our fans so much. I know you guys aren’t stupid. I can’t lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.”

Kings of Leon’s Houston date, which was scheduled for Saturday, has since been rescheduled for Sept. 22.
